just breathe.

"Blossoming awareness allows one the freedom to realize the Divine within."
The Heart Sutra

Developing "the consciousness of the present moment" begins with the breath.

Focusing so much in our mind, we forget to give the breath the freedom to do its job, expanding the lung capacity, reducing stress and tensions, and healing. As we begin to "know" our breath, we become in tune with present moment. The heart opens, the ego quiets, connecting with the higher self and healing the wounded inner child (ego -- addiction) can then be heard, loved, and healed.

At this moment, it is possible to hear the voice of one's inner teacher and allow the inner light to heal our relationships with our self, our body (health), with others and with the material world. And we become connected with ourselves and acknowledge the inter-connectedness of all beings.

a moment of gratitude.

Placing the hands in Anjali Mudra, "Namaste", or prayer position, is a humble expression of gratitude, prayer, and reverence.
In it's silent wisdom it says, "I honor the divine with in you, we are one in spirit."
The word Mudra in Sanskrit means "seal", and so in placing our hands together in this way we make an agreement with ourselves and others; we "seal the deal" so to speak, promising to honor, to proceed with peace.
In your practice of gratitude in this week of Thanksgiving, pause and place your hands gently in Anjali Mudra in front of your heart. Breath a few deep breaths and honor yourself, your community, and the wondrous gift that is your life, with a quiet moment of gratitude.

Please be reminded that there are no Yoga Classes at Rabbit Hole this week due to the holiday.
There will be class next Tuesday, November 30 and NO CLASS Thursday, December 2. I will return from my month away and resume teaching, Tuesday, December 7. I look forward to seeing you all.

I know that in my gratitude this year I will include a moment of thanks for being able to teach such a wonderful and warm community as you.

Guest Teachers for the month of November.

Joetta will be away for the month of November at an artist residency in Colorado and is delighted to introduce 2 gifted guest teachers who will be teaching in place of her this month.
Meet them here:

Zoe Rabinowitz is a dancer and yogini who discovered Ashtanga Yoga during an injury in 2003. Since then Zoe has united her love of movement and yoga through challenging and creative vinyasa flow classes with a focus on alignment and injury prevention. Zoe began teaching in 2005, and has trained with David Hollander and Christopher Hildebrandt at Yoga Sutra and Laurel Hodory of It's Yoga. Zoe extends gratitude to all of her teachers, both on and off the mat, but especially to Christine Hoar, Christopher Hildebrandt, David Hollander and Matthew Murtha.

CAROL TESSITORE was raised along the shores of Long Island, New York, where she first discovered the ujjayi breath of the Ocean waves. These waves brought her to New York City where she received a BFA in Fine Arts from Parsons School of Design. Her artistic focus on the body in space as sculpture led her naturally to the vast arts of dance and yoga. Carol has been studying Bharatanatyam since 2006 with Sonali Skandan (New York) and Guru Sharad Pandya (India). She also dances in the folk style of Bhangra with fitness-guru Sarina Jain (New York). In 2008 Carol received her 200 hr certification from Yoga to the People. Her Vinyasa flow is infused with the energetic grace of mudras and bhakti inspired by temple dance traditions. She is ever-thankful for the teachers and community at Prema.

Zoe will be teaching most of the Thursday classes and Carol the Tuesdays. Please come and meet them and experience their unique teaching voices. Joetta will be back in class teaching December 7.
