Welcome!

Welcome to the Community Yoga blog. A place to come for inspiration and information pertaining to instructor Joetta Maue's Yoga classes.
Joetta started donation based classes in order to support people of all income brackets and situations in practicing yoga. In NYC yoga has become so expensive that it is a luxury only for the upperclass.
Yoga should be a practice that can be welcomed into all peoples lives. All that is needed is you, your breathe, and the willingness to turn your gaze inward.

Please contact Joetta with any questions regarding the Community classes.

Meet Joetta

Joetta Maue was first introduced to yoga by her mother at 15 years old. She quickly found a strong connection to the need to slow down and breathe. She has been a serious practitioner for over 15 years and a devoted teacher for over 10.

Joetta’s true commitment to yoga began when she turned to the practice during a difficult time in her life. The process of slowing down, accepting, and letting go helped her heal and changed her outlook. Eventually she decided to spread the gifts of practice through teaching.

Joetta trained and practiced as an Ashtanga yogi and now practices and teaches a Vinyasa Flow, highly influenced by the Ashtanga tradition. Joetta’s dynamic and vigorous style of teaching is inspired by master teachers, with whom she has studied, including Shiva Rea, Richard Freeman, and Barbara Benaugh. With continuous study her style has continued to evolve into her own unique teaching voice. Joetta is an artist living in Somerville, with her husband, son & 2 cats.
